We want to bring your attention to a significant development that will impact trade regulations starting January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abolition of Industrial Tariffs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a decision made during its meeting on February 2, 2022, the <strong>Swiss<\/strong> Federal Council has announced the abolition of industrial tariffs, as per BBl 2021 2330 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fedlex.admin.ch\/eli\/fga\/2021\/2330\/de\">BBl 2021 2330 &#8211; Zolltarifgesetz (ZTG) (admin.ch)<\/a>. This decision comes after the necessary amendment to the Customs Tariffs Act was successfully passed by Parliament on October 1, 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Points:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Effective Date<\/strong>: The abolition of industrial tariffs will be effective <strong><u>from January 1, 2024<\/u><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transitional Period<\/strong>: This deliberate choice by the <strong>Swiss<\/strong> Federal Council allows for minimal transitional costs for economic actors and the administration. It provides ample time for all stakeholders to prepare and make necessary adjustments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Administrative Oversight<\/strong>: The <strong>Swiss<\/strong> State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) will oversee the abolition, with the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) responsible for implementation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Affected Areas: <\/strong>The abolition applies to goods in chapters 25 to 97 of the Customs tariff, excluding certain products in chapters 35 and 38 classified as agricultural.
