Safram opens its new premises in Paris

In 2012, changes are continuing at SAFRAM, with our German operation moving to Erkrath, on the outskirts of Düsseldorf.
The move was completed on 15 March 2012, offering an additional 3,000 m2 of space and providing a larger number of loading bays.
Erkrath is located at the crossroads of the main motorway routes, as well as the distribution channels of the Ruhr, where our local customers are situated. It also represents a key rail hub for road and rail transport towards Switzerland, then Italy.
SAFRAM Germany, founded in 1996, has over 20 employees, under the management of Ulrich Meier. Serving a large number of German businesses in the Ruhr*, this veritable hub receives hundreds of tons of cargo every day, which are then distributed via its capillary network.
The Ruhr
The Ruhr region is an urban area in the west of Germany encompassing several large industrial cities which together form a conurbation with an agglomeration of 5,203,100 inhabitants, making it the most populous district in Germany and the sixth largest in Europe in terms of residents. It covers an estimated 4435 km².
The Ruhr region is located in the Land (province) of North Rhine-Westphalia and is bordered by the river Ruhr to the south, the Rhine to the west and the Lippe to the north.
From west to east, the region includes the towns of Duisburg, Oberhausen, Bottrop, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum, Herne, Hamm, Hagen and Dortmund, as well as the more rural areas of Wesel, Recklinghausen, Unna and Ennepe-Ruhr. The growth of these towns caused them to merge into a vast industrial complex, the fifth largest urban centre in Europe, behind Moscow, Paris, London and Madrid. The Ruhr region is itself often included in the Rhine-Ruhr conurbation , which has a population of over 12 million.
Despite its urbanisation, visitors to the Ruhr are often surprised by the large number of open spaces to be found between the major cities. In fact, 52% of the surface area of the Ruhr is cultivated land, and 25% is forest (source: Wikipedia).
