Swiss team Safram extends its European tour
May 19, 2016When it comes to transporting and delivering goods, SAFRAM uses advanced technology: our fleet serves to enhance productivity.
SAFRAM trucks in France benefit from Mercedes’ automotive expertise. Proof of this is the recent news from the manufacturer which has just presented its very latest vehicle-to-vehicle communication system: Mercedes Highway Pilot Connect. This driving software connected to the highway allows trucks to exchange data in order to reduce their safety distance and thereby achieve up to 10% fuel savings. Three vehicles covering the 600 km separating Stuttgart from Rotterdam have recently demonstrated the efficiency of the system!
SAFRAM : high-tech vehicles
In order to ensure better order tracking, improve productivity and enable real-time validation of deliveries and pick-ups, SAFRAM trucks are equipped with an on-board computer system: the Trimble application. They also have a programme for automatically shutting down or slowing down the vehicle to maintain safety distances, and an alarm when crossing lines. Another tool: heavy goods vehicles are equipped with a GPS telling them which roads are open to HGV traffic.
The emergence of hybrid technology
At the Solutrans trade fair, which took place in Lyon last November, the SAFRAM fleet was enhanced with an high-tech hybrid truck. This model, voted ‘Truck of the Year 2011’ has 15% lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Choosing the Atego 1222 NL BlueTec Hybrid, created by the manufacturer Mercedes, once again reflects our philosophy: to be a company at the forefront of innovation while striving to minimise its impact on the environment.
