We put 5 questions to Michael Muser, a professional with 24 years of experience in the logistics business and director of our branch in Weil-am-Rhein.
Why does Weil-am-Rhein hold such an important place in the SAFRAM organisation?
Because it is a strategic point linking Switzerland, France and Germany. Weil-am-Rhein is located less than 2 minutes away from the access roads to these 3 countries: the A5 for Germany, the A2 for Switzerland and the D105 for France, which is located 8 km from the A35 St Louis.
What role does Weil-am-Rhein play within the SAFRAM organisation?
SAFRAM Weil is the Gateway to the “Online” alliance system for the German national network. We cover the south-west of the country in the 79 post code area, including the areas of Freiburg, Lörrach and Weil. Every night, 5 lorries are working in the area, of which 2 are outgoing, serving the central hub of Schlitz, and 3 are incoming, returning from Germany. The goods are delivered every morning in the regional area. SAFRAM Weil also acts as the staging area of our Basel subsidiary for international traffic to and from Switzerland.
We are a major hub for our international network and our agents, from north to south and from east to west. We offer a dense and effective network for our clients’ supply chains, with daily services to and from Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Budapest, Dusseldorf, Milan, London, Lyon, Paris, Poznan, Salzburg and Stuttgart. We also offer routes to Athens and Istanbul through our Weil subsidiary.
What infrastructure and resources do you have?
We have a warehouse of 1400 m2, extendable to 3000 m2, with 6 covered ramps. The administrative offices are based on-site in a dedicated area of about 200 m2. As regards logistics, we have 10 vehicles, including 2 articulated lorries for the “Online” service line, five 12-tonne box lorries with access platform and two 7-tonne box lorries with access platform, and 1 sprinter. We employ 9 people in administration and 7 in logistics, all seasoned professionals.
Does SAFRAM hold any certifications?
We currently hold DEKRA, ISO 9001, HACCP-Codex Alimentarus and ISO 14001 certifications. These certifications enable us to provide a guarantee of quality and reliability for all our services.
Finally, what is life like in WEIL-AM-RHEIN?
